Today we
would like to share an article by popular author, pastor and Bible teacher John
MacArthur of Grace Community Church in Sun Valley, California. He is also the creator of the “Grace to You” media
ministry.
In this
article, MacArthur shares a candid and historically-based overview of certain
aspects of the Roman Catholic Church. The
article is quite long, but well worth reading (also available in audio). It is titled, “The Scandal of the Catholic
Priesthood,” and it covers aspects of the Catholic Mass, the Eucharist,
celibacy, nuns, monasteries and homosexuality… but in particular, the tragic
plight of the priest. Roman Catholic priests
are locked into what MacArthur calls a "terrible, terrible system.” They are not only victims of a deceptive and
unbiblical religious system, but they are also victims of a cruel environment that
fosters bondage to worldly lusts.
Let us all
pray for their eyes and hearts to be open to the simple and freedom-producing
gospel of Jesus Christ.
